Are you sure that engine is numbers matching? Last section of VIN # on passenger side oil pan rail?

In '69 340's were still painted red or some were Hemi orange from factory. Also the passenger side exhaust manifold looks to be a center dump used on '71 and later 340s.

Mine is blue. same car basically. Mine is numbers matching.

'69 engine was blue and that looks like the correct passenger side manifold
...how does the engine sound / run?

69 engines were turquoise, or blue as more are coming out of the woodwork. It is a late car which explains some of the options. Looks to be the correct manifold.

OK, I stand corrected. Here is a entry on another Mopar site:

Correct engine paint for 69 340
68-red
69-blue
70-orange
71-orange
72-blue
73-blue
All according to Galen Govier, for what its worth.

I'll take my flogging now!

I'm an old fossil who owned a very similar car to this one - 69 340 Swinger, mine was 727, vinyl roof, factory A/C.

Engine color was turquiose and car was factory original with super low miles (25K) - never any engine work with all the factory markings and tags intact.

My next door neighbor also had a similar 1969 340 Swinger purchased new in 1969 --- engine was also turquiose. I was 17 in 1969 --- all of the 340 Swingers and 340 GTS cars at the local dealers had turquiose painted 340s. Of course that may have changed at the end of the model year, as the 1970 340 Swinger had Hemi orange 340s - same as the 1970 340 Duster,

This car looks nice --- you will save $$$$ just because the body is rot free ....and it's a 4 spd.

I owned an original 1969 Dart Swinger 340. It was an early-build car and the engine was painted red from the factory. I was told that some of the early 1969's had red engines, and the car I owned confirms this fact. I'm just saying...

I can attest to the same. In the mid 80's I snagged a 69 swinger 340 from the original elderly owner. Build date was 12/___/68 and it's original 340 was red. Never say never when it comes to Mopars!

I am looking to buy a 69 swinger or GTS . Restored . R4 red or b5 blue
