I have a 1970 340 engine with 680 miles on it since being rebuilt. This was professionally built by a well-known stock/super stock NHRA builder.
It is a solid roller cam with Harland Sharp rockers. The one and ONLY issue with this engine is we made the decision (which I regret now) to not bush the lifter bores.
At idle, the oil pressure leaks down which is typical from some solid rollers from what I read. I ran this for 680 miles in the last two years. I would keep it off idle because of this issue.
I removed this engine a couple of weeks ago and have a few videos of it running. Again, zero issues above idle.
Engine specs.
1970 340 bore is .030 over. stock forged crank .010 mains .020 rods rotating assembly was balanced Approximately 11.3:1 CR.
here is the link of the short block sale [SOLD] - new 340 short block
The engine was disassembled checked, hot tanked and reassembled without the oil crossover tube. Main and head studs were retained. VIN B237290
Edelbrock heads #2467 (MP 5153849) new from Mancini Racing (I had these heads checked over by a machinist) they were resurfaced for Cometic gaskets, guides honed, valves and seats cleaned up before being run.
Comp Cams solid roller 20-000-111 specs in the photos. This was a custom grind for my car and altitude (not correct for everyone).
Crane Cams Ultra Pro solid roller lifters #69550-16
Harland Sharp Rockers #S7002K (these are designed for these heads)
Milodon 8 qt. pan with windage tray.
This engine made 400HP / 408 ft.lbs. TQ. with an Airgap intake and a Holley 650 carb.
The six-pack setup is complete and included at this time. It is a mechanical carb set. The carbs were rebuilt and only run with ethanol free gas. The air filter is new (zero miles) the air cleaner assembly is in very nice condition.
I will be keeping the pulleys and valve covers. I do have other valve covers to install if needed. The water pump is a high quality (don't remember brand) and was new at the time.
I am willing to crate and ship through Fastenal. I will also be willing to sell in Major part groups eventually. For now I am going to see what the interest is as a whole assembly. It would be fairly easy to solve the idle oil pressure issue with a cam / lifter swap.
I have most of the receipts from the build.
Thanks for reading the lengthy post. Please pm with questions so we stay out of trouble with the mods.
I have over 10k in the complete engine with the six pack set up. I just sold a vacuum six pack set up for 3,800. (we all know how much these prices have gone up recently).
I am asking 8,000 plus shipping from 80534.
