Does the intake and exhaust both get seals and are they the same. I need to replace them on my 1970 383. O'Reilly's list the same for both Fel-Pro SS12419

Well...... “sometimes”.

Some of the seal sets will have the “long” umbrella seals for both intake and exhaust, and sometimes they come with the long ones for the intakes, and the short ones for the exhaust....... and some sets come with a positive seal for the intakes and an umbrella for the exhaust.

Any of the above will work for stock or mildly hopped up combos.

I haven’t bought any of these in probably 20+ years, but the old MP viton seal package P4120492 used to come with 8 long, and 8 short umbrellas.

No, unless the guide has been cut down to accept the .640+-"(edited, I measured) diameter positive style that you mentioned SS12419), otherwise it's what PRH said, most of the time the exhaust side wont accept the positive style (far right bag).

I don’t have a package of SS12419’s to look at, but I would have “expected” those to be the long umbrella, since they are described as the “early” style.

My preference for stock type builds is to use the long umbrella on the intakes and the short ones on the exhaust.

The later factory heads(452’s) came with positive seals on the intakes, but the top of the guide boss was still the same size as the earlier heads(a nominal .625).
