you can go to the parts store and get a new one,sand it,etchprime it,and paint it.yes,i know they have a sticker,or plate on it,bu all you do is take 2 screws out,remove the plate,and screw the handle back on.That way,youll have a gas cap with a new gasket,and it wont leak,if your car stays outside,gets washed,etc.Just my opinion
