1970 duster steering column

Question! when installing the column does it matter what position steering wheel is in? or can you reposition steering wheel later or do I have to unlock with key to line it up? my wheel is not straight up and down when locked. While I am asking is there anything I should be aware of while attempting this, I did not pull it or ever install a column before! first time for everything I guess!

The pot coupler has a master spline, so it can only go on the steering gear box one way.

Being a little bit 'off' is normal for a car all apart, so if done correctly, the steering wheel will be straight after your front end alignment.
