[Found!] 1971 gas cap

So some di€#less a$$hat thought it would be a good idea to steal the gas cap off my 71 Demon. It’s been on the freaking car since it was new! Now I have an ugly chrome locking cap on it. Guess I should have done that from the start. Argggg! Anyway, I have a pile of spare gas caps but no 71s. If you have a 71 only cap you’d like to sell, please let me know.

I've had a couple people tell me, when I was looking for one, that at car shows, or anytime they left car unattended, they would swap out their caps and stick the original in the trunk. Have seen them priced at $200 at swap meets.

One reason I don't answer the ads for 71 caps . Not to many people want to pay what they are going for. And what if I need one? I sold a driver condition to someone that had his stolen at a car show. I always painted an extra with the car. I am installing a 70 Duster tube in my car. Cap fits from 67-70 and it has a vented fill tube. also sets level when tight unlike the 71 style. They were always tilted

I find a lot of people on this site don't realize that the part is FIFTY YEARS OLD. They think that an NOS part should be the same price as a jobbers part for their neon.
 
Okay funny guys. It’s an f-ing gas cap! Not a $400 part, IMO. If it is to you, cool. My money is better spent else where. Besides, I just found a cap locally for $50. Fair price for both parties. So keep thinking these parts are gold plated. This hobby is going down hill anyway, quickly!
