hi,I presently own a 1972 340 automatic challenger.I know this engine was detuned this year.I know that pistons and valves where changed. What Iwould like to do is built my engine to 1970-1971 specifications. Is there a kit for this or any other suggestion, thank you,[email protected]

How much do you want to spend? If it was mine and it was in decent running condition, I'd get the heads cut .040-.060, do a good 3 angle valve grind and put in the bigger (2.02) intake valves. If you don't like headers, try to find some 71 and earlier exhaust manifolds. Now if the motor's shot, rebuild it and get 71 and earlier pistons, the 2.02 valves, the valve job, and the manifolds. Now that was sorta easy wasn't it?

Like Don says.. Why are you unhappy with it? the 70-71 specs aren't really any better. If you want better, build better.
