I bought this car a few years ago from the original owner's nephew outside of Birmingham. it was February of 2011 or 2012. I drove it back to the Atlanta area on what may have been the 2nd set of bias-ply tires. Between that, and the fact that the heater core was clogged, it was a less than fun ride that night.
The car has the original window sticker, original AL license plate, and some other documentation with it. Everything on the car functions, including the radio and the AC. The AC is still running on R12, and isn't very cold, but it does kick on and feels a little cool.
As is common in low mileage cars, the gas tank has no holes, but won't stop spitting out rust, which has gummed up the carb. I have a brand new tank in the box, and a restoration quality rebuild kit that go with the car. The car does start right up.
The tailshaft bushing/seal on the transmission seems to have a little leak, but an easy fix, which of course I haven't done.
After I got the car, I replaced all 4 shocks, the heater core, heater control valve, and the master cylinder/booster. I kept the original parts, in case someone ever wanted them.
The car originally had steel wheels with economy caps on it. I still have the caps, but the original wheels are long gone. The car now sits nicely on a set of Mopar Rallye wheels. The tires hold air, but they're old. I wouldn't drive it any real distance on them.
The interior is a 8 or 9 out of 10. One of the seams in the driver seat bottom split when I sat in it when it was really cold. The carpet is faded. That's it.
The exterior is very good, but has it's flaws. No rust in the quarters or floors, but as is also common sometimes, where the chrome front & rear windshield trim meets the bottom corners of the body, water sits in the trim, and there is some rust around the corners. One of these areas does leak if it gets rained on, into the trunk. Having a look, it's not rot, and should be easy to repair by removing both windshields, cleaning the areas up, and reinstalling.
The trunk has surface rust only in the spare tire well, and a little on the RH side, from the leaking windshield. Again, there is no rot.
The original owner's nephew said that in her older age, his aunt had scraped the sides of the garage. There are a couple of small ripples on the LH side over the LR fender well, and I believe similar on the RH side. Also, the door molding on the RR door is on upside down, which tells me someone had it off, likely spraying that area.
If you're interested in driving this car home, I would strongly suggest the following get done before you do that. If a deal is made on the car, this can be done, but of course at extra cost to the buyer.:
Replace tank (I have a new one)
Rebuild carb (I have a kit)
Replace tires
Adjust the valves/tune-up
