Here is the story: I bought this from a member in Florida I trusted as a fully rebuilt engine that was never fired, but not bagged properly. The heads had some rust buildup, so the plan was to remove and clean them up, then reassemble and fire the engine. Turns out the heads needed work, so I set them aside, got distracted with other projects and left the rest of the engine crated. Life takes over... fast forward 9 months. I uncrated the engine, put it on the stand and find that part of the mounting ears are broken off on both sides. They were even painted over. I don't have the welding skill to fix them myself, and it's not worth it for me to drag it to a machine shop to get them fixed. I don't even have a machine shop around here that will do it. I already have another block and don't want this in my garage anymore.

Good news is the block and crank appear ok. It had .30 over pistons in it which I used for something else. It had an unknown cam in it which is also gone. I left the crank in the block. Correct 340 damper is with the engine. Block does appear machined with cross hatch marks visible. Cam bearings look ok. timing cover is a little corroded, but ok. Oil pan appears fine.

300 for the block, crank/ damper, oil pan, timing cover
75 for the intake
100 for the J heads, but they'll probably need some work

Pick up in Buda, TX, just south of Austin.

What brand of pistons were in it? Did you happen to measure to see if they were above or below deck at TDC or if you know that the block has been decked?

I'll buy it if you are willing to allow me to arrange for pickup. I have friends and family in TX that can do it, just don't have confirmation on when just yet. I am also willing to pre pay for it as well. Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks, Bill

I think they look like Silv-O-Lite cast pistons or something very similar. They were above deck, and I think the one I measured was something like .018. I was super pissed about the ears being broken, so I forgot to write down the measurement at the time. I don't know if the block was decked.
