Standard bore 1973 340 with 1973 340 heads (1.88" intakes, NO smog tube holes). Can include a 1969 340 intake. This is an UNSTAMPED motor. NO VIN, NO assembly date or info. Casting date 2/9/73.

This engine was installed in my 1968 GTS convertible some time around 1980 (we bought the car in early 1983). It had a low oil pressure problem at idle in 1989 so I pulled it to rebuild. I had the bores measured at that time and they were worn just barely enough to need to be bored. A couple of years later I found a 1970 340 that was already rebuilt for a very good price so it went in the GTS and the '73 was put in the corner of the garage. The heads were run on the '70 motor for a few years around 15 years ago.

$1,500/offer. Located in Fresno, CA. Delivery possible for a fee. Will consider shipping.

Cast crank, but here's the weird part. It was internally balanced (no weight on the torque converter and a non-weighted balancer). We ran it 40,000 miles or so and it had no vibration. That, and the no numbers thing, lead me to believe that this was an over the counter replacement for a forged crank motor.
