Looks like a VIN swap to me.
How do you figure? It has the 72+ rear side markers, indicating that the shell is at least a 72+ car. The doors are 73+, they have the plastic tops. And you can’t see the VIN in any of the pictures. The front end is definitely ‘71. Nothing in the pictures to indicate it isn’t a ‘75 Duster with a front clip and tail panel swap. Tail panels are pretty easy to change out.
Now, that said the car is way overpriced for what it is. It should be priced like a ‘75 Duster, and in that condition it’s not worth half what he’s asking. And I would definitely check all the numbers on it to make sure nothing really funny went on with all that part swapping. If it’s legit all the numbers will be for a ‘75 Duster.

All of the body parts that would confirm the VIN have been replaced or are missing.
I think it looks good. He listed it as a '75, so nothing looks fishy to me. Do we ALL use year correct wheels, motors, etc etc.? I take it somebody liked the Demons, but didn't want to pay stupid crazy to get one, so grabbed a '75 on the cheap and put a Demon clip and panel and presto! they were happy

How do you figure? The dash is from a 73+ car, and the additional warning lights that are visible probably mean it's at least a '74 car. So it could very well be the original '75 dash as the seller says. The doors are at least '73 up, so they very well could be original. Just because they don't match the awful purple respray doesn't mean they aren't the original parts, maybe they painted the shell and jambs and never went further. I mean, they didn't bother to remove the pentastar off the fender when they sprayed it. The radiator support is partially visible, it appears original. And we have no idea if anything has been done with the package tray. The inner fenders are gone, so, no fender tag. But you should still be able to check the numbers on the dash, radiator support, and package tray. Maybe even the door sticker if they didn't remove it when they did the primer on the doors. The only part that obviously is missing from the swapped parts is the fender tag. Beyond that, there's no VIN stamping on the fenders, hood, grille, valance, and tail panel. Heck the seller could still have the fender tag, we just don't know.
Like I said, I would absolutely want to confirm all those numbers, and check all the work that's been done so far. But there's nothing in the ad that suggests it's anything other than a '75 Duster with a '71 Demon front clip and tail panel. A rough one that isn't worth what the seller is asking, but there's nothing to suggest it's a VIN swap.
If the VIN and title agree, and the seller plainly states it's a '75, nothin' illegal going on here. It's if you like the car or not. Again, I think with decent paint and interior it'd be a good looking car, or a perfect drag car or street/strip car.
I thought once you admitted it was a clone, tribute or whatever the nitpicking stops. The guy is not trying to fool anybody obviously. He's asking 65 obo maybe he's trying to get 45. Hell anymore if it's got a tight motor and 8 3/4 it's worth 5K Haha.
