1983 dodge 1 ton truck transmission

Did the automatic transmission in a 1983 dodge 1 ton truck get in xtra goodies. Maybe a xtra low first gear or 4 pinion planetary?

All 727s had the standard 2.45 low gear set. The 904s got a 2.74 somewhere around 1980. Chrysler did have different "duty" levels, including a "Loadflite" and some truck applications had a short tailshaft.

You should find more detailed info by Googling "torqueflite history". Lots of reading to do.

Factory produced 1983 trans, extra low first gear no. Four pinion planetaries maybe? Agree with Locomotion reading up helps. Also due to replacement parts often interchanged over the years you can really never know what a trans has on the inside until you take it apart.

No, that was the Powerflite. Chrysler PowerFlite transmission - Wikipedia
