I know we have figured out almost every vin number east of the Mississippi. BUT I am having trouble breaking down a 1986 vin number of a van I purchased about 5 days ago.

Does anyone have a recommended site for a vin decode for an 86’ Dodge B-150 van with a 318?
Every site I visited comes up it’s either wrong or incomplete. I have the 17 digits right off the title from the great State of Georgia.
If I need to post it I will. But not sure if that is a smart idea or not. lol.
Thank you,
Joe

Can you post the first 10?

NHTSA has a vin decoder. Not sure what it is your wanting to find out or how much this will tell you.

lmc has the vin decoder in their catalog and maybe on their web site. if not i have a copy of their catalog here.

2B4HB11T4GK. 11 digits-

What I was trying to find out initially was what the van had for rear axle and brakes. 10”, 11” or 12”. (Weight code) When I tried the MoPar parts search it came up in complete which made me check other locations. And it was either incomplete or not recognized/ wrong.
It has made me curious now. Why can I not pull it up. 86’ is 17 digits. It should break it down. If not, I’m picking it up tomorrow and will know once it goes on the lift.
Thanks you!

Go to your local Dodge dealer and get the STAR report. It will tell you exactly what your van was built with. I have the exact same van as you and I went to the parts department, didn't cost me a thing.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate the energy. I got it to the shop today and found it is a 8-1/4 rear, 904 and 318- 2bbl. I only bought this to resell because short vans that are not rotted here in New England are rare.
It’s even got (2” muffler shop installed) dual exhaust. I will tune it up, do all filters and fluids, brakes and make a lady out of her and see where I go from there. Too small for my welding company or home / farm needs. I’ve got great road frontage at the end of my long driveway. Easy to sell stuff. It even has AC.
