2.5 exhaust

Well I put the 2.5 inch exhaust on last weekend, I bought it from summit it fit well, I guess my question is it sounds a little tinny is this the effect of the size of the pipes or due to the fact that theres no carbon in the pipes to smooth out the nosie? or is it the mufflers? just would like to hear from other members that have installed summits exhaust.

i just put on a jegs 2.5" system 2 weekends ago on mine and i have a good deep tone from it. it runs all the way to the bumpers. i think that jegs and summitt both probably use the same mufflers , i dont think the carbon buildup will help any.
 
could be both the mufflers and the whole combo, this is mostly found on cars with chambered mufflers but hardrunning engines tend to create alite of that even with absorbationtype mufflers
 
If you put in a H or X pipe maybe it will take out the tinny sound?? I just bought the 2.5 from Jegs and I got a set of muffs off of ebay, 2 chamber, I have not installed mine yet, I also got the H pipe, Are you using the turbo muffs that came with your systems?? I bought the kit with no muffs, I have turbos on mine now and wanted to try the flowmaster clones, did you weld them or use the clamps??
 
What headers are you guys using? I'm contemplating getting summit's kit but not sure if they will hang too low with my TTI headers.

I have Blackjack Alumacoats from the early 80's before they started using ceramic, mine hang low but not any lower than my 8 quart Moroso oil pan. I think youd be fine.
 
I used the mufflers that came with system, I welded the two sections of exhaust pipes and used clamps on the mufflers and tail pipes,i will run it for a while to see it changes, it's not real bad just different, maybe later I'll try different mufflers,it's been raining so much here I can't drive it alot,I have hedmen elite header on my duster,what i found out while installing this system was that on the passanger side i had to cut down the lenght of the exhaust pipes to make them fit due to the lenght of the header on that side,
