Hey guys I just picked up a 1974 Scamp and the 225 leaves it a bit to be desired. I just got a killer deal on a 1995 250 van with a 3.9 V6 and I wanted to swap the engine into the Scamp. Anyone done a similar swap? would the Schumacher mounts for a 318 work? I know I need to swap the PCM in to run the thing but I really think the 3.9 would wake this car up.

Someone was talking about this a few weeks ago. Do a search. It seems to me that the consensus was, that motor is a 318 with 2 cylinders shaved off. So it seems like you would be able to put it in there rather easily.

Thank you I just checked that thread and it's very helpful. I got the van for 50 bucks and I custom make a ton of stuff so it will get a nice blower on it too.

I had two Dakotas with the 3.9. The engine is a 360 with two cylinders lopped off. Same bore, stroke, etc. That being said, I would not put one in an A-Body. I could never get any decent mileage out of either of them, could not break 20mpg. If it were me and I wanted more power I would go ahead and put in a 318. For the difference in fuel mileage you might as well, it couldn't be more than a few miles per gallon difference. Just my two cents.....

No it's a 5.2 (318 ) minus two cylinders, it has a 3.91" bore and a 3.31" stroke same as the 5.2(318 ). If it was based of the same bore and stoke numbers as the 5.9 (360) it would be a 4.4l v6 (5.9/ 8*6 =4.4, 5.2/8*6 =3.9).

Im considering doing the same thing in a 1981 cordoba.

Could I use the same tans that is on the 225 on the 3.9:sign2:

No the 3.9 has the same bell housing bolt pattern as a sb v8 which is different than the \6
