One of the greatest ballplayers of all time passed earlier today at 93. He just said yesterday that he wouldn't be able to attend the upcoming game between the Giants and Cardinals at historic Rickwoods Field in Birmingham, AL, where he first played professional baseball in the Negro Leagues with the Birmingham Black Barons.
I was fortunate to see him play a few games against the Los Angeles Dodgers before he retired in 1973.

If the Hall of Fame only allows 10 players? He would be one. 24 time Allstar. Perhaps the most complete players of all time.
