I tore down my 67 273 today and it appears
to have solid lifters. Have any of you come across
a stock 2V 273 with solid lifters before?
I am flummoxed. It is going in for the Egge 10.5:1
rebuild with new HP cam and all the goodies so it
really doesn't matter, just curious.
TIA, Rat:read2:

Up till they went hydraulic, all 273's would have had solid lifters. 4bbl or 2bbl would have had same lifters.

Valve Springs would be the weaker spring. With the bigger cam, you'll definitely want to replace to match whatever lift you go.

Cool thanks for the answer. I had assumed the 2V 273 was hydraulic
lifters. This motor is interesting, no ridge at all in the cylinders, it was
only a 70K motor. I think it will clean up with a .20 bore and we will
add the aftermarket goodies per the previous 273 build threads. My
machinest is looking forward to doing something beside a brand X motor
for a change. will post some photos to my build thread.
Rat:cheers:
