hi I have a 66 273 block the side of the block has a D clock at noon
than cast date , than on the outer side has a - 2 after the numbers ?

The cast in 'clock' with D and N with the pointer is for Day or Night shift.

If you want to know more about how the engine's original assembly details, look on the front of the block below the driver side head surface.

Get a photo of that number sequence & post it if you can?

The day / night ticker on a 273 I have in the shop;

The engine's serial number (NOT to be confused with a car VIN in any way, shape or form) on the same 273 I have here;

That number on your block will be able to tell you more about the engine you have once it is decoded for you by someone here.
