It had been setting for 15 yrs. but got her running last night. The valve train chatters. Should I be patient, run it and see if it corrects itself or look into the problem. What should I be looking for if I pull the valve covers? It has mech. lifters. Thanks in advance.

probably needs a valve adjustment
The original nuts were distorted nuts and notorious for coming loose...replace with new mopar nuts that have a locking nut asap...unless you like pulling the valve covers once a week :toothy7:

Definately agree with that. :toothy7:

when I first purchased my 67 Barracuda, the solid lifters made a lot of noise, so I thought putting a new cam and lifters would fix it, they still made noise.
I finally had to buy an after market set of longer adjusters, thesew worked like a champ.
you may need a taller set of valve covers
