My girlfriend went behind my back the other and bought another project car that I will be wrenching. At the ripe age of 22, im now the owner of 7 mopars!!! Girls can live with them, can live w/out them.

Anyways, the car is a 65 Dart 270 with a 273. The trans needs work, interior needs major attention and the body is primered with some surface rust and minus some trim pieces, but it was dirt cheap and its a good cruiser project I guess. Have to think positively. LOL. The jack*** who had the car previously put an Edelbrock carb onto the stock single plane 2 BBL manifold. The motor runs, but has a misfire, which I think is a vaccuum leak from the adapter, as I pulled the PCV line off the carb and the idle just sped up instead of killing the motor. Vaccuum leak. With that said, there is plenty of exhaust smoke and it smells of fuel, so there is a fuel issue as well. I looked at the carb flange and the code is #1407, which is either a 650 or 750 (i think 750) carb. It is being grossly overcarburated, since the oil smells of fuel. The only noise from the motor is the minor soft valve click, which I expect of solids.

Do I sound like I'm on the right path, or could it be something else? Ideas? Ofcourse, I will give it the customary tuneup. The car has points.

Also, for now, will a Carter 2bbl carb off of my 73 Duster work on this manifold, even though its the older single plane style?

Thanks for your help in cleaning up the mess caused by someones infinate source of ignorance/carelessness.

Man it's great having a girl that is into cars. My fiance is into them and man we can talk for hours about engines and her street racing adventures in Seattle.

Well at least she didn't go behind your back and sell one which is usually what happens.

That Carter 2bbl will bolt right on the 273 intake.
