273 Rockers with roller cam

Looking for some feedback on running a solid roller with 273 Rocker arms. Spring pressure should be 400 open at .600 lift. I'm on a budget, but if its a no go I'm all ears.

The issue is those rockers aren’t bushed.

Keep the rpm below 6500 and make damn sure you have 40 psi oil pressure at a hot idle and you should be fine.

I used them when racing stocks but I took the camshaft and had them put a small grouve on the # 2&4 cam journals to supply oil to them at all times about .030 wide and .010 deep. Never had oiling problems with shafts but I did use a HV pump

They really aren't designed for that high of lift.

if, and that's BIG if i was gonna do it, there's no way on god's green earth that i'd not have those bushed. i've seen stockers with stock spring pressure absolutely gall and destroy shafts under normal lift circumstances.

at that level of lift, i'd be concerned with geometry tbh...

Thanks. I have run a .558 SFT without issue, but the spring rate is 315 open.

Nothing anyone on any forum says, good, bad, or otherwise………will affect the outcome of those parts being used together.

You know it’s “iffy”(at best), which is why your even bothering to ask.

They’ll either be fine, or not.

Thanks for the response. When I asked my machinist about using the 273 rockers with a roller cam he said that the spring pressure required to maintain control would steer him away from using them.
