Hello, I have ´67 notchback ´cuda and going to run it with 440+4spd+dana60. Leaf springs are mounted to the frame, but I would really like to run full exhaust system (maybe TTI H or X pipe kit) and using factory tank would be nice. I have a TTi headers all ready.

There ain´t lots of room, what kind of tail pipes are you using, any pics of them??

TTi says in their website, that you can use their kits with muffler that has same side inlet/outlet, if you use a fuel cell. Anyone tried this combination, any pics of it ?

Maybe I´ll just by a Summit kit etc. and modify it to clear the springs, or just end the pipes before the axle.

3" is defintely possible and is what most guys use with thier big blocks.Sorry I have no pics but you could try the tech archives at BB Dart.

i have a few pictures somewhere of how others have snaked 3" tailpipes out the back. i have been in contact with http://jimkellemsmotorsports.com/ReplacementGasTanks.html whoever makes there tanks builds them out of aluminum, they are a copy of the original design with the addition of some baffles. they told me that they should be able to have the tank built a few inches narrower and then made deeper to regain the lost capacity. the GSS Hemi Darts had a "mini tub" fuel tank built by Ricks Hot Rod shop, or something like that, but he no longer makes the tank. not a very good picture but it is all I could find of the GSS Dart from the back....

Wow,those tanks are xpensive..
that they are. but at least they have some baffles in them. and hopefully because they are made by hand getting one trimmed down and made a bit taller would not add nothing to the price......how is that for a hallucination??:toothy10::toothy10:

couple of more pictures, not the best but it is all that I could find when I was looking...i spoke with a shop a while back that used oval tubing for the tailpipes and said that it made getting the equivalant of 3" tailpipes out the back easy.....for what that is worth...

another picture..

My Demon needs 3" tailpipes with the springs moved inboard. Thanks for the pic. That's pretty much what I figured on how they need to run. Around the tank, between the spring and frame rail behind the tire and then straight back outboard from the spring. Gonna get hot, gooey rubber all over the pipes when doing a big ole top fuel style burnout. That could get nasty. :angry7:

:sign7:, maybe I´ll just "chop" the original tank to clear tailpipes, coz I allready have a new 1/2" sending unit and I wanna my ´cuda look so stock as possible (with 550-600 horsepower big block :snakeman:)

or maybe there is a manufacturer who sells "minitube tanks" for a reasonable price???

custom fuel tank and reasonable in the same sentence, now that is a novel idea. I have been hunting for a while now and have not found one. http://www.rickstanks.com/ made one for a Dart for a brief while. they were used in the GSS Hemi cars. but they discontinued making them, when I spoke to them he said it was due to leaks. apparently once the drivers side of the tank is cut down the filler neck and its placement becomes an issue and causes leaks...

I checked thier sight out.Once you get past the fancy graphics theres no info on dimensions.

when i spoke to a person at the first link he said that the tanks were from hot rod city....i have emailed hot rod city a few times and have never gotten a response...

I think I'd just section a stock new one and weld it up. Taking some out of the width should help

yep, I think I´ll do this and use TTi´s 3" exhaust, modify the tips to clear rear spring hangers.

Has anyone chopped stock tank, how much room TTi´s need ? How many inches need to be chopped each side. 3" is too much.....?

Started a new topic for pictures of TTi exhaust, to see the routing of those....

might run into an issue with the filler neck, depending on how much you take off. is there an issue with both sides of the tank? been so long since I have been under one of these things I don' remember.....just wondering how much capacity would be lost by chopping off a chunk.....

I had the spring 3/4" relo kit. I didn't ever get the exhaust finished, but it was up to the rearend and just never got around to going up and over the rear even though there was more than enough room by using a cell.

yup, thats exactly what why dad did on his minitubbed and inboarded 69 dart...its the passenger side of the tank that is offset and creates the problem, so he chopped it up and made it less wide on that side and voila! looks good too! me, im doing 3 inch as well but i got lazy and love noise so im dumping it under the car lol

good luck!

shredder.... you're young so the sound will be great. As you get older the sound will get annoying real fast. I actually give a sigh of relief whenever I shut the Demon off.
