3 point seat belts in 68 dart

I would like to put in 3 point seat belts in my 68 dart just for some added protection. I have the stock shoulder belt that mounts to the roof but its really uncomfortable. Has anyone taken the 3 point belts from a late model dart and used them in a 67-9 dart? Does the reel get in the way of the door & seat? Options and pics would be great. Thanks...

I bought aftermarket 3 point retractable belts from Wesco Performance. I am very happy with the way they work. I had to mount the retractor on the rear floor right where the seam is.

I also bought the similar setup from Wesco for my '67 notch and am very happy with them. I bought the ones with the 8 inch down strap where it bolts into the roof.

Since you asked about later model factory belts... that retractor is mounted inside and behind the quarter interior panel. Additional plastic cover at the belt exit point.
No the "reel" wouldn't be in the way but... The factory also added a welded nut and reinforcement inside the rocker structure to attach their retractor. Recreate that versus aftermarket belts like suggested above with drop loop too. Should be a easy decision.

qkcuda....looking at your pictures I'd be replaceing the reinforcing plate you used.....norm is 3"x3"x1/8th" minimum, as Mopar floors are thin I'd go bigger again!! check your local regs but I'd be surprised if your plate is legal...stay safe, Marty
