hey folks question, I have a set of 302 cast heads they are ported...just wondering if I have wasted time and money? I have heard different commits in regards to these heads.

Hello and Welcome. I'll start with some friendly advice. Guys here are pretty detail oriented, giving more info of your specs and intended use will cut through alot of bullshit. But on the same token, you have come to the right place to find out. So please tell us more. Help us , help you

ok...340 30 over, 508/292 cam, 700 dp carb. Mopar ignition orange box. A/M trans. narrows rear w/ 4.10

the 302' s are opened up pretty good 202 intake and 160 exhaust , I do have two sets of J heads 904's , the shop guy says the 302s are a better choice at this point...just wondering I have had no experience with these heads.

Again, and I'm not trying to be a smart *** but, "opened up pretty good" just throws a huge unknown into the equation. Some guys can open them up pretty good, and set a national record. And some guys can open them up pretty good and completely ruin them. Even flow numbers don't tell the whole story. I would say post some good pics, and hopefully one of the good cylinder head members will chime in. Just trying to keep your thread moving for you.

Not sure what the compression difference would be if any, but I agree with Marcohotrod. Run em!!!

i have a set on my 360 with 284/484 cam, professionally opened up with 1.60 ex valves, in my humble opinion they definitely do the job, i think with the bigger intake valves u have they should definitely work.im hesitant to put on different heads because im fairly impressed with the power i have now

I had the same experience.

Ran those 302's with a really big cam and the car ran really hard. Went to mildly ported 587's and a smaller cam and its nowhere near as much fun.

Put a 1.9 and 1.6 11/32 valves in and these heads went 242 @ .500.

For your setup, you want a lot of head. 302's are a little bit of head that can be ported to be a little more head. Too much head is a nice problem to have, and most of us don't have anywhere close to enough.

Ported there ok, they can flow decent amount. To me there a waste of time when there stock and people swap only to gain a fraction of a cr.

Hey folks thanks for the advice, I’m sure I will have many more questions regarding this build as I am doing much of the mechanical aspects of it on my own. I will post some pics of my 67 barracuda soon..... long live the Mopar

What do they flow? Numbers? Ported could mean a great job or it could mean somebody totally destroyed them, or anywhere in between. Just like new isn't always good. Ported isn't always good.
