318 4bbl Horspower?

-
I don't believe there was a factory 1969 318 with a 4bbl .

178 hp. Your #7 and #5 cylinders only have 88 psi compression due to the valves being shot.

LA 318 2bbls listed @230 gross hp. When they went to net HP in '72, it pumped out 150 hp.

Mexico's 318 (270 hp) sweeeet!!

It depends on WHAT intake, carburetor you use....and of course upgrading to headers with big exhaust pipe will help. I wouldn't be surprised to see really close to 300HP with the right carburetor, intake and big tube headers with big exhaust. The 318 likes to rev and gettin it in and out is the name of the game. Kinda like your date on prom night.

There shouldn’t be any porting on that build unless I posted the wrong article, it’s a reman long block.
Yes sir, you are correct. The other link above has ported 302’s which are great for a 318.
I messed up my replies. My bad! Sorry.

Right, I mean a stock 318 with an added 4bbl

I just love the sound of a stock 1969 318 9.2:1 compression engine. The 2 bbl is actually starving it for gas, economy carb. Then you add a 4 bbl (600 cfm carb) to that exact configuration, and now the whole tone of the motor deepens up because now it is getting the fuel it needs to make the horse power.

The way it pushed this B Body around and the responsiveness of the 4 bbl secondaries at any speed. My money is on that it makes the 250 hp with the addition of the 4 bbl.

Adding: Cam, Heads, and dual exhaust closer to 275 hp to 300 hp.

'69 Satellite factory 318, with 727 trans and 2.94 rear gears, single factory exhaust.

4 bbl was huge improvement, night and day difference. Got rid of that gas leaking, fire hazzard 2 bbl in the process too.

We have always wanted to Dyno this '69 318 factory shortblock, with: 340 cam, 302 Heads, LD4B Edelbrock/Chrysler intake manifold, all Port Matched to intake, heads, and exhaust manifolds, 1406 Edelbrock 4 bbl carb, 2 1/2" X-Pipe full dual exhaust on stock manifolds.

Easy 300 hp but betting more likely 325 hp. Very responsive, great power, drive with both hands.

I love that Satellite

Circa 1990 - About 8.5:1(reman cast pistons), don’t remember which heads(probably 675’s), mild clean up, 1.78/1.50, std performer, 650 carb, 340 cam, headers
