318 build

-
Pretty easy to get 300hp out of a nice 318. I have a bunch of magazines from a build that Mopar Muscle did. It was a cheap, but nice build. If you want them, or maybe they have it on-line?
Can't wait to see this new Cuda.

I think your better off doing a 360.
But then again, he's not asking that. Lets answer the question instead of starting an argument and such.....

Easier to get parts at less $$$$.

That is 100% incorrect.

The only place a 318 cost's more than a 360 is HP slugs. Stock stroke or 4 inch arm. It will use every other S/B part and do so with out thought. A sonic check may even allow a 4 inch over bore.

Many years back......
"73 318 block .030 over, deck milled a bit to true it up. OE replacement slugs. Choose carefully since some years have higher deck heights. Milled 360 heads, 1.88/1.60 stock port. MP thin gaskets. Crane Commander 278, forget the lift, IIRC, (LOL Probably not) it was under .500 lift on a 112 C-line.
600 Holley DP, Torker II 340, headers into 2-1/2 exhaust backed by a 4spd and 4.10's.
Ram mid 13's all day long in a E-body Cuda.

What fun I'd have today with more modern parts. RPM, better heads and slug selection. Woooooo :blob:

Craig, I have a stock 340 intake you can have if you go that route. If you don't use it, I'll take it back, but if you do want it, I'll drop it at Toms house.

I have a friend with a 85 Dodge D100 with a pretty strong teen. KB167s, 302 heads with 360 valves, Comp 268S, Holley 570 Avenger on a Holley street dominator. I am fixin to do one similar but mine will have that MP oval track solid that's 509/238 @ .050" on 106 LSA. I am gonna use a 71 340 intake and you guessed it....a thermoquad. Might be a little too much cam, but we already have it so that's one less thing to buy. Plus, it'll be a nasty soundin little *****. The truck has an OD 4 speed so that 3.09 first gear will help bottom end. He is bein kind enough to help me build this truck so I can sell my Ranger and get out from under it. With the compression we're figurin combos like these are good for 325 or so HP. Desktop Dyno said 368 on my build but I think that's optimistic. ;)
