i am currently collecting parts, when available,, i may be swapping in a 318 and pulling out an old school 241 dodge red ram hemi from my street rod,,,

i have found a cam new for sale,,it is very close to a factory 273 4bbl cam,,

410/425 lift 248/256 duration 110 center line,,,any one know what the vacuum is like on this cam ? im currently running non power brakes,,but may change that some time as well,,,its a street rod,,power windows,,a/c...cruiser,. just looking for a little more low end/mid range,.not a tire fryer,,,and good mileage

stock 318 stock heads,, or is a stock 340 cam a better choice,,,any input would be great if you have run this cam,,thanks

That cam is real close to a stocker. I really like my Crane cam. Speced at 272/284 (@.050 216/228) .454 / .480 lift on a 112. The cam has a smooth idle. If more chop is desired, a Comp version on a 110 centerline will do well.
The power band is approx. 1500 - 5500, give or take a few 100 rpm.

I chose the Crane for the duration split and stock head use on my 318. Which also has Hooker headers, jegs dual exhaust, Edel LD4B and a 625 Carter on top. It's docile enuff that the idle really doesn't get notice much and is easy enuff for grandma to drive it without issue.

It gets up and goes well enuff. Un-tuned 1/4 run @ 15.14 @ 89 mph on the low comp. ratio '79 - 318. Easy 14's with a tune.

Give this one a shot or similar speced cam.
