I've been doing some research on milling 318 heads on various sites which means different opinions and the whole nine. I took some notes and wanted to see what I recorded is correct. I'm thinking about using the heads (4027593/4027163) that came off my motor since I already have them.

.020 (no milling needed intake side)
.030 (.020 intake side)
.040 (no milling for intake side mentioned / told to use .40 head gasket)
.050 (no milling mentioned for intake side)

My rotating assembly is stock. So that means my CR should be around 8.0 - 8.5:1.

Can somebody guide me to the light, please.

...............Welcome to FABO..........to make a long story short the general concenses is to mill intake side the same amount............actual is for every .010 off the head u need to mill intake side .0123..............kim.........

Thanks Kim.

I remember someone saying that valve-train geometry would change after a certain amount is milled off the heads.

Any time you mill the heads, deck the block, or change the thickness of the head gasket you'll have to consider that the push rod length may need to change. For small amounts you may be ok, especially if you have adjustable rockers. But with non-adjustable rockers you have a much smaller window, you'd have to shim the rockers to get things lined up again if you change it much.
