Hi 318 folks.

I have done a Poly 402ci for a Moparmate and his bruv wants a 402 LA.
They both have 66 Coronets, how coolio...

Any leads on the less common 318 4 inch pistons please?
That’s 4 inch bore and 4 inch stroke.

Best wishes from John

You will need to check with whoever sells LA stroker kits to find pistons.

Ummm, no pics of the 66 Coronets? This may be an A-Body site but there is B-Body love here too. My dad has a 66 Coronet 500 that was an original 318 Poly car that is long gone.

If it’s a 318 with a 4 inch bore and a 4 inch stroke it takes the same piston as a standard bore 360.

The piston manufacturers show a std bore 360 4 inch stroke piston.

The 402ci Poly is a Gary Pavlovich assisted build.
You bore the 318 Poly block to 4 inches.
It was actually in a 65 Fury and it was mental...!

Now going into a 66 Coronet as the Brothers Grim have matching Mopars...

We were going to do a 65 Poly Dart 4-door drag car, but it went 452ci big block instead...

So I already have a 318ci block at 4 inches, that had an ‘old school’ 360 stroker kit in...

Seeing the 340 stroker cranks are a good buy @ £400 just need to find some 4 inch bore pistons...

Should have said they was going to race Darts me thinks, bit risky saying Coronet on an A-bod site, oops...

Great replies Guys!

Wasn’t aware that the 360/408 piston was made at 4.000 inch bore 402 lol.

We are mostly restricted to ‘Ebay’ purchases for ease of transport. They do great deal on shipping cranks and heads etc...
Cheaper to ship a crank from the USofA than send it locally in the UK!
Very rarely see stroker stuff on EBay, never see pistons anymore...
It might be “back to the old days” getting a USA based Moparmate to buy and send Mopars to us...

Are you wanting to build a stroked 318 LA or Poly? Reading your first post is sounds like you have a 402 Poly and want to build a Stroked 318 LA. As noted, the LA and Poly "318" have different bore sizes. LA being 3.91".

The ICON pistons IC744 or IC9978 would likely be found on ebay, and they fit the request for 4 inch bore and 4 inch stroke, but I can't help wonder if there will be valve to piston clearance issues with the Poly valve arrangement. Can you clarify how this is addressed on such a build?

Awesome! There are Poly fans here, no worries about droppin' "B" words here, lol! As pointed out, all Ya need is a set of std. bore 360 stroker slugs. But the valve notches You may need are up to You & a machinist.
