So, just wondering, what is the max lift camshaft you can run in a 318 with flat tops w/4 tiny valve reliefs at zero deck and factory head safely?? .500"?? A little more/little less??

The lift isn't what you need to be concerned with so much as the duration.

Hmmm, I was wondering about the duration dilemma but wasn't too sure how much it mattered, just as long as it got the valve outta the way before getting smacked.

Throw, the combination, at us. We may scare you, with a common sense answer...

It's all about the duration. You can take a stone stock cam, theoretically change the duration and slam valves into pistons.

Lol, well it's the 318 build for my Valiant. Stock stroke, cast flattop piston, zero deck, 973 head with slight port/bowl work/gasket match.
Performer Intake and Holley6210 spread bore dp.
904 with TF2
3:55 gear

The cam I have now is the Crane Energizer .454/.454 216/216 @.050.

Compression right now is around 10:1

I emailed lunati and they suggested their street/strip cam that's .465/.465 228/232 @.050.

I'm wanting something that sounds pretty mean yet makes good power for what I have. I do like the numbers of the Lunati and may give that cam a try but just lookin at other other possibilities as well.

You COULD run the Lunati. To make it run good, add a Air Gap manifold,a 600-750 square bore Carb, and a 240;-2800 torque converter. Sure, makes more power.Have to spend 500-800 more bucks,to make it work properly. I like the combo, you have now.
