318 squealing.

Hello!

I was wondering if anybody has experienced something like this. When I accelerate or rev the engine I get an awful squealing noise. It sounds like a belt or alternator failure, but it's not.

With no belts hooked up it still does it. It sounds like it's coming from either the passenger side exhaust manifold or valve cover.

Any ideas?

Is there a heat riser in the exhaust manifold? It could be stuck part way and causing a whistling noise.

front pump of the tranny? Are you fluid levels all good? --does the car work ok--- Lawrence

That could be it, especially since it's the passenger side.
