Just trying to figure out what I have, Factory domed pistons

Also I have a 70 Dodge fw340p29890500; 2780930-340-6

What is the diff between -4 and -6? I know it ain't a t/a (7-10-69)

-4 and -6 are core revisions.

The CW is probably GW

You have the VINs from teh pan rail area, pass side?

F= 70 year, W= Winsdor plant, 340 = 340, P= premium fuel, 2989 = julian calender assembly date mopar cant find my julian calender looks like engine was build late 69

looks like the first 340 was assembled on Jan.26 1971- "3469" and the other in the dodge looks like assembled on Oct.3 1969- "2989" and it is the one with the 70 vin number on it. I believe this is correct and i hope this helps you. Matt

7-10-69; thanks; I thought it was original engine in the 70 swinger that caught totaled, while parked. Saved the block, crank and heads.

Thanks, the first one, bought used about 1977, threw it it and drove. Now have timing problems, don't know the cam... did 71 have domed pistons still? Has them and j's with 2.02's.

I believe that the 72 year model was when the compression was dropped. The 71 engines would have still been the high horsepower engines.
Matt

That's what I thought, good. thanks for the info. Now, to get the dist locked to 10, as that thing wants 25 initial. Found an old 318 factory in shop, locked it to 10, napa can't seem to get the correct vac advance unit for it (just testing here). Street.
