The body is a 1966 Cuda. According to the prior owner the engine is from a 1969 Formula S Cuda The VIN # BH29P9R176863 checked with Mopar VIN Decoder: Decode Your Mopar Vehicle Identification Number supports this:
Body Type: B = Barracuda
Price Class: H = High
Body Type: 29 = 2 Door Sports Hardtop
Engine: P =
Year: 9 = 1969
Sequence Number: 176863 = 76863rd Vehical Built
Besides taking the plugs out to put oil in the cylinders, no one has “messed” with this engine for 45 years! The dipstick oil looks good. The prior owner said the engine had about 35,000 miles on it. It has the original “X” heads and 4 speed tranny. WHAT TRANNY IS IT? The Engine and tranny numbers match. PLACE ENGINE AND TRANNY NUMBERS HERE. We interpret the casting date to be 3-9-69 but you decide. As far as we know all the engine parts are original. I took the plugs out and put oil in the cylinders when it was sitting. The engine turns over easily with a common ratchet. The carburetor is a Carter AVS 4 barrel. The radiator may be from the 66 cuda. The rear end is a 741 the prior owner thinks he did not change it when he put the 340 in the car. I also have a Mallory distributor and some other miscellaneous parts.
The body is a 1966 Barracuda. The VIN# BP29D62562050 checked with Mopar VIN Decoder: Decode Your Mopar Vehicle Identification Number supports this:
Body Type: B = Barracuda
Price Class: P = Premium
Body Type: 29 = 2 Door Sports Hardtop
Engine: D = 273 180HP 1-2BBL or 235HP 1-4BBL 8 CYL
Year: 6 = 1966
Sequence Number: 562050 = 462050th Vehical Built
The car is missing the left rear passenger window. All the other glass is in good condition. It is also missing the turn signal indicator on the top of the right front fender. The center grill is bent but it has the center Barracuda grill circle. The chrome fender rings on the rear are off. One is bent and one is good. We believe the rest of the body’s parts are intact. The car was last inspected in 1975 according to the window sticker. The original 273 blew and the prior owner put in the 340. It has been stored out in the weather for about 10 years and in my dad’s barn for about 35 years. Being a Pennsylvania car, it is rusted. We can send more pictures if desired.
