340 Drive Issues

What would make a car shutoff when it's in drive? My idle is so rough and horrible sounding when I put the car from park or neutral to Drive and even worse for reverse
Any ideas?

start with the basics:check your timing,carb adjustment,fouled plugs,check the firing order.i would suspect a vac leak,but its hard to tell without more info,or being there.

My swinger w a 750 holley was running real ruff after setting for the winter. I know here in Maine they are using 10 % ethinol in the gas. I pulled and cleaned the carb. Looked as though it had a coating of varnish in it. This was only a 1 year old carb. After cleaning car runs great.
