340 engine

hi i have a 73 duster with a 68 340 engine with electronic ignition ,the car has a manual choke carb edelbrock 600 cfm the car starts up fine will stay runnig if i keep my foot on gas until it warms up but as soon as i put it in drive it stalls out . if i keep pedaling the gas it is fine once i am moving it is fine any ideas i have tried raising the idle up to 1200 rpm but still the same

is the choke opening all the way?

Try opening up the idle mixture screws. The Holley on my race car has a better idle in-gear when the mixture screws are opened up a little over best idle in neutral.

i checked the choke it stays open .started playing with the timing set it at different settings the car now stays running in drive but i cant get it to rev over 1600 rpm in gear put in in park and it revs fine.
