340 has a hard time starting when hot?

Are you getting a good pump shot from the pump?
From the picture angle it appears (to me) the pump spring is collapsed with the throttle closed. Maybe not set right.

What are we looking at here? Again forgive my ignorance, but this is all new to me!
Accelerator pump adjuster.
Not likely the cause of the problem you are describing.

My suggestions.
See if there is fuel in the bowls. Do this now so you learn how to do it. Do it before you drive to where ever. And do it before leaving where ever.

Look at the fuel line routing. Most important the routing to the fuel pump where it runs close to exhaust and route from the pump to the fuel filter and the carburetor. It should be away from the exhaust and the fuel filter should tilt upward.

Pay attention to what is needed to start it hot vs. dead cold. In particular you probably need to hold the throttle slightly open when starting warm.
In the photo we can see the choke and fast idle are not being used. So you need to mimic with your foot the throttle starting positions. Even with an automatic choke sometimes a throttle has to be held slightly open when starting warm.

Does it have chrysler electronic igintion???

If so, check the reluctor gap in the distributor... .007" with non magnetic feeler gauge....

I installed a new elect dist kit once and didn't check the gap... It would start cold, but not hot... Turned out my reluctor gap was at .030"... Once I adjusted it properly, I never had a problem...

new larger fuel line and old one 4 return if vapor locking or if you have increased fuel demand

Also check Dizzy for side shaft play it will put your Reluctor gap all over the place. As they wear out it gets harder and harder to start. Happened to me years ago and New dist. fixed it.
