Anybody got some 340 spool type mount pictures with the mounts install on the block correctly? I am trying to install mine and like every way doesn't seem right. Do the mounts go on front of the ears or in back, seems to bolt up to the motor by going in back but the car wants them in front but I can only line up the top holes--the bottom won't line up.

Ah its like no way the mounts go on front of the ears. Seems it has to be the back

Can the trans slip a 1/4-1/2 inch backwards causing the engine to need a good pull forward?

Darn hoist I rented today was leaking oil and gave out early. Using my floor jack to lift the short block now. Yeah I stick the heavy heads on after its bolted it. I'm a little guy working by myself so try to make things easier / lighter.

Well I'm thinking the tranny did move back a bit. Going to lay a broad across the front fenders and have the motor braced from there. Then going to try to rock the motor side to side while pulling it forward.

If it doesn't budge, the floor jack is going under the tranny and the tranny mount is going to be un hooked.

Tranny man says no way trans moved back, however since its a different engine the trans mount needs to be loosen up, since each motor is a bit different on the spacing.

Was it, with the motor hanging from a broad on the fenders--no hoist today--and the weight off the trans I was able to pull the motor ever so sightly forward and get the engine mounts on.

Slowly its coming along!
