340 Pistons

-
Currently building a .040 340. Would have it sonic checked to be on safe side. My preference is to go custom pistons, of the shelf always seems to have some sort of compromise. Wiseco, JE, Ross, CP & others can be used. Will be using a 3.79 Callies stroker crank, 6.4 Howards chevy rods, CP custom dished pistons. Deck height is 9.588", compression height 1.293", -17cc dish, will have 9.3 compression with 70cc ported J heads & Felpro .039" gaskets. Have used higher compression ratios on other iron headed motors (10-11:1) but they always seem to have a preferance for a race gas mix so I decided to drop it some. Hopefully this will be good for mid-grade pump gas. These parts have a lighter reciprocating weight than a 170 slant 6 so I expect it to be a revver. Not the cheapest way to go but no communist source parts.

396 on an aluminum headed engine you could run 11.3 and still run pump gas. commie built but american machined
