340 starter

I am helping my son put a 340 in his 68 dart GTS. The car has headers and the old gear reduction starter, it's a tight fit. I have read on this forum about using a Dakota starter. If this will work what year or what other option?

If you do a search on the site you will get part numbers. However, to make a long story short, the majority of folks indicate they bought a mini starter for a ‘92 to ‘96 Dakota.

Oh a 318, 340 or 360 engines all have the same size block so there’s nothing specific about a GTS for a mini starter.

I have one in my big block, so dont want to steer u wrong with #s, but definitely use the mini. Save the old one, fast forward 40 years, your son may have a sought after relic.
