Just wondering if anyone has seen this before and can tell me what it is? This is on the 340 block that was in my 71 Demon 340. The car was built 3/71 and the block is 6/71. The tag is on the front of the block under the driver side head.

Thanks!

rebuilt engine. Original blocks always predate the car build date. Often the attaching pieces for rebuilder's tags are temp sensitive and will fall off if the engine is overheated, at which time the rebuilder might not honor any warrantee.

I agree.

Mopar factory short block assemblies have a turquoise-ish tag, so I don't think it's one of those.

The blocks don't always predate the SPD of the car. If the car is delayed from SPD you can have engines dated after the SPD on fender tag. Rare, but has happened.

Looks like a rebuilders tag.

A non Mopar reman might indeed have a VIN.

if the rebuilder sourced their blocks from Mopar, than probably not.

I had a car with a SPD 5/21 with a factory engine dated 6/12

This block has a Vin that isn't very legible but does not appear to match the vin on the car.

Agreed, my '69 Bee's SPD is Feb 23rd. The engine was built on the 26th and the exhaust manifolds cast on the 27th.... and I know where the car has been it's entire life..

WOW, live and learn. I would have never believed it was possible...

My Challenger has a SPD of A13 (Oct 13th)
Engine was cast Oct 14th
Engine Assembled date 10-29
Intake Cast 10-21
Exhaust Manifolds 10-18 & 10-21
3rd Member Assembled date 10-27
Rear Axle Assembled date 10-28
Original Door Sticker 10-69
If it hadn't gotten built till November that would have shown 11-69
