hi guys just bought a 340 pulling it apart and looking for info on the parts that i got the block i know is a 70 block the heads are j heads with 2.02 and 1.60 the crank number is 3751841 not sure if cast or steel the rods are 3418645 and the pistons are 2899479 are these the high comp or low comp thanks for any help

ok thats what i thought on the crank that it was cast but when im doing searching on the connecting rods some places are telling me they are 360 rods and then other places are saying there 340 rods and that the casting number doesnt matter they lost on this need help and cant find any info on the pistons :-k

Thats a cast crank, Floating pin rods, They were the same 318-360, The pistons are high compression

thanks much now being high comp pistons are these forged or cast pistons just wondering

if it's a 1970 engine, the cylinder heads should be cast number 2531894. the J heads are more than likely dated mid 1971 to mid 1972. these are a good head also, and came on all the 360's those years. all 318-340's those years came with the same casting number rods, but the good 318-340 rods up until about 1971 have larger numbers about 5/16 inch high...those have the floating pin bushings. if they have the smaller cast numbers like 3/16 tall, they are the standard rods.
