I have a set of 360 j heads with the 1.88 intake valve. I recently came accross a set of 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves a a good price, which i purchased. I was wondering what are the advantages or disadvantages of cuttin these head out for the bigger valve. Keep in mind I am building a 360 for mostly street use and little track time.

Shouldn't really be any disadvantages unless you count the added cost. Are you going to run a cam that is big enough to use these heads?

There is no down side on a 360. Some say there's a downside on 340s..but I dont call the 2.02s a problem. What it does on any set of heads, is increase the available area for flow from the closed (" on the seat") valve position thru the mid lift range (.250"). It also moves the 45° seat cut outward and up, effectively unshrouding the valve in the chamber and removing any traces of "sinking" from wear. The 8% longer stroke will love it.

Well i'm thinking of going with the comp cam xe274 with .491 exhaust lift and .488 intake lift and 286 , 274 duration, and thanks for the info every one.
