I’ve been able to do a few trips into town and around to shake down any issues with the car. I just hooked up the scanner and I have 8 codes. I expected to have some, and I’m not overly. Concerned about it, but if anyone has fixes for any of these, I’m all ears.
First background for those who haven’t seen my threads. 67 Dart, was a slant six. Now has 1999 5.9 magnum out of half ton 4x4. Trans is 42rh out of 1993 2wd half ton. Computer and harness out of the same 99 truck. Currently using toggle switches for OD and torque converter lock up. Using electric fuel pump from the 99 half ton mounted in the stock dart tank.
1. P0500 vehicle speed sensor A
2. P0753 shift solenoid A electrical
3. P0132 O2 sensor circuit high voltage bank 1 sensor 1
4. P1899 P/N switch stuck in park or in gear
5. P1492 Ambient/battery temp sens volts too high
6. P1763 governor press switch bolts too high
7. P1765 trans 12 volt supply relay ctrl circuit
8. P0138 O2 sensor circuit high voltage bank 1 sensor 2

I would make sure you got a good battery, to eleminate low voltage. clean all grounds and clear codes and drive it for a couple days and see what comes back. Really sounds like bad connections to me.

I’ll double check connections, but pretty sure battery is good. I’m pretty sure the reason for the codes is the fact none of those things are hooked up. I don’t have O2 sensors, the transmission isn’t connected to the computer harness, I have the sensor that goes in the bottom of the battery tray, but bony know what wires I would connect it to. So that accounts for about 6 of the codes.

You have codes because they are not hooked up . So what are you asking ?
If the computer does not get a signal it will have codes forever until (1), you have the items that are missing connected, (2), you have the computer reprogrammed.

batt temp sensor code is generated if you don't have the sensor under the battery i think. the rest are probably due to missing wiring/sensor inputs.

codes 1,2,4,6,7 probably due to fact that 99 trans is 8 pin connector and 93 is 2 or 3 pin. to get rid of codes you will, as moparleo said, have computer reprogrammed.

My post said I was asking for possible fixes. I’m well aware of why the codes are there. I’m also aware there are plenty of smart people on here that have done similar swaps and have probably come up with clever solutions. What I’m looking for is people to say “this is how I took care of this code”.

You really should have posted the whole story in the first post.

You need to have the 99 ecu flashed to manual trans programming to get rid of the RE trans codes since you are running and RH. The battery temp sensor color codes for the wires I can get for you tomorrow. Why, why, why, are you not running front o2 sensors? They are necessary.

Came here to post this. Manual trans setting will cure the ills that the computer needs to fix.
The O2 sensors added will cure the ills you need to fix.

Solo PCM's in Florida can sell you a PCM with the correct things disabled for a reasonable price. They are who I used, but I also had the ECM reflashed for more performance several times as I made upgrades from a stock motor to a stroked motor with ported Eddie heads and bigger cam. This required the purchase of a hand held tuner and a remote tuning service, which was not inexpensive. It was definitely worth it for me though, as it made a major performance difference even on the stock motor.

My ECM used 4 O2 sensors including 2 pre-cat and 2 post cat. I am using an O2 signal generator on the post cat feeds to avoid codes. I am running the pre-cat O2 sensors though, which is kind of the point of running modern EFI, the self tuning feature.

There are several reason. Many deal with lazy, lack of time, and lack of knowledge. I’m a long way away from calling it done. I’m going to work on putting an H pipe in and plan to put the first O2 sensor in it. My lack of knowledge kicks in by not knowing whether to us an o2 sensor from an automatic or a manual since the trans is not hooked to the computer. Also the wiring issue. I don’t believe I have any unused plugs in the wiring harness from the PCM to the fuse box. So I’m guessing I need to run wires for the O2 sensor, but not sure where. Next question is if I put in a post cat O2, where do I put it since I don’t have catalytic converters. If I don’t put the second O2 in, is there a way to work around it?

The front o2s are there to trim the fuel tables. They are necessary. The rears are only there to tell the ecu if the cats are not functioning. You can omit them. The wiring should all be part of the engine side harness.

The front o2s need to be located around 12” from where the exhaust manifold exits. Closer is better than further away.

Just read your reply again and need to tell you, you need one 02 in each bank. Do not use the H pipe

If I remember correctly the donor truck only had one pre cat O2 and it was just past where the two exhaust pipes came together. Maybe I’m wrong

Could be, Ive seen stranger things. And I know with emissions stuff the manufacturers make different configurations for different states. Mine for sure had 2 pre and 2 post cat o2s. Mine is a 2001 ob2 California truck.

I’ve been doing a bunch of searching online and it seems like pre 2000’s possibly only have 1 pre and one post. The 2000’s have 4. I just don’t think I have a plug for it in the wiring harness. If I can’t find the plug I’ll hard wire it into the harness, if I can figure out what wires I need to connect to.

I'm no expert but that engine will barely run without an 02 sensor.

napa has o2 bungs. also there is a kit out there that basically eliminates the ds o2. or like a teacher at school said, " just tie the down stream o2 up out of the way and it will be okay." several have tried it and no problems so far.
