Its not an a-body, but I bought a Dodge Ram to enable me to trailor some a-bodies when needed. My question, the oil presure guage started to jump around. Like drop from 50 lbs to 10 back to 50 and so forth. Someone said the oil pump was bad. I'm hoping its just the guage but haven't had time to check. The engine is very quite no pings or knocks or anything. I have a problem with gout and today would be the day to act up. Any ideas.
thanks.

Maybe a little more info? How many miles on it, how old, have you looked in the valve cover to see if it's sludged up? Did you check the oil level? Is it a magnum or an LA?

guessing that's the stock electrical gauge? would be nice to hook up a mechanical one and check it. also, is the idle steady when this is happening, or not?

good luck

I'm sorry it is a magnum. The guage is the in dash electrical one. This is a 95 model truck and the mileage is around 150. I looked this morning and the guage was steady at idle. Everything on the truck is really clean including the engine compartment. The oil is new as is the filter. We were in a bad storm when I noticed it and I thought it was a connection or something.
thanks

Just because it's clean on the outside doesn't mean it's clean on the inside. I have seen them sludge up and clog the pickup. It could be an electrical issue but it's hard to tell from here.

Thanks guys, I can't walk today so I guess I'm drawing at straws and hoping for the best. It sure runs good for there to be anything much wrong, but I know if its mechanical it can break. I'll check and see what I can find tomorrow.
thanks again
