Like the title says.
Turning over the engine by hand to install the timing gears and the crank flywheel weight contacts the body of the oil pump.

How is that possible. Big block pump possibly? Oh and the pump has never been used it’s a new piece, no numbers on the pump. It came it with some other new parts

Not a BB pump, either replace the pump or get out the die grinder! 65'

ANY chance it is actually "kitty-wampus" on the mount and tipped? "It should fit."

B/RB pumps just for info, mount on the outside of the block, are completely different. I've often wished SB pumps were also external

Should be no problem clearancing pump. But before you do tgat, check with mfr, maybe there is an issue with manufacturing.

Had problem before....bought a pump that says made in USA ...you could see where the USA pump was machined to let the crank clear....

All of you are correct and thanks for the replies

bought a new pump from Napa (With the made in the USA stamping). and it clears the crank. By a small margin but crisis averted.

what sort of pressure does a stock pump produce assuming factory clearances

grind it...the USA pumps come pre ground. Some other US person ground the ones they made so I'd call it a massage. Headers need some bumps too.
