What all is needed,to go to a solid,flat tappet cam in a 360 ?

solid lifters require a longer pushrod then a hydraulic cam with adjustable rocker arms....

Ok,so far:
Adjustable rockers
Longer/appropriate pushrods
Anything else ?

LOL @ Bad440

That is it really. An adjustable rocker and longer pushrods.
For a easy switch over, I recommend huges engines for a everything under one roof. They have a nice rocker set up for a good price, they can rent you a pushrod checker and will make you a set of pushrods from that checker.

They also have a nice billet hold down set for the bar.
Also. A long list of cams to choose from.

I'm actually selling a cam to a fellow member, and trying to get all the necessary info, for the swap.He already has all the valve train,so it looks like it comes down to the pushrods.
It looks like 273 solid lift pushrods are the ticket, length wise. Of course measuring would be the best bet.

yes you gotta measure, dont use 273 pushrods they are way too flimsy, been there done that.....

Im the "fellow member" guys.Bouncing around the idea of buying the Isky solid cam Johnny Dart is selling and just wanted to know what was involved in the swap from Hyd to Solid .Seems that i read somewhere about additional oiling to the rockers or sum SBM Mopars dont oil through the pushrods or sumthing ,so i wasnt sure.I already have Harlan Sharp adjustable shaft roller rockers on W2 heads.I am still kinda green on Mopars ,but not to motor work.I have swapped many cams in small block Chevys ,Fords.Swapped the cam and lifters (after it went flat) in my Big Block Chevy powered work truck last summer .While were on the subject i think this cam is just what i need to fix the bottle neck in my budget 408 .Your thoughts would be appreciated .
I did not build this motor ,but i bought it from a stand up guy who did ,so i have no reason to doubt him on its interanls .
Here is my setup based on what he told me:
360(LA) stroked to a 408 with a cheap cast crank
unported econo W2 heads
10 to 1 compression with KB Hyper pistons
Victor intake with a 750 Demon carb
Harlan Sharp roller rockers
4.10 gears and 26 inch tall slicks
PG conversion with a T-brake and 3500 convertor
MSD ignition (box ,billet dist ,coil ,etc.)

The current cam is an Edelbrock Rpm hyd with .488-.510 lift and 234-244 duration at 50.

The soild in question is .507 -.507 lift with 254-254 duration at 50.

The valve springs now are the ones for the Eddy cam ,and with the same basic lift (actually a hair less on the exhaust side) ,i think i should be good to go.The real gain will be in the duration increase and no hyd lifter squish.

My car has a best of 7.13 @96 mph in the 1/8 with the current cam (and always runs high 7.1's low 7.2's ),so im thinking the bigger solid cam should be enough to get me in the 6's .

Looks like a set of longer pushrods is all im gunna be lacking at this point.

I realise that a roller cam would be better ,but this car is a cheap ,fun ,beater ,not a pro deal .Im looking for cheap gains and i think this cam would be about right for my setup ,without over camming it ...

Don't worry about any oiling issues. If the current pushrods are sealed on the ends it won't matter. If you haven't had any issues with the hyd cam, you'll have the same oil levels to the rockers with the solid set up.

Get the right length pushrods and you should be good to go.

Econo W2's don't flow all that well in unported form. The cam will help, having a good port job put on the w2's would be a bonus.
