I am new to small blocks ( I have always raced 440's), and I am looking for plug recommendations for my 360. It is in a Shelby Dakota. The engine is a 371 w/ a Holley 750 vacuum secondary, Air Gap intake, .484 Purple shaft, Hooker Super Comp, 904 trans, PTC 4200 converter,MSD, CAL-Tracs w/ monoleaf rear springs, 3.55 gears w/ Richmond Locker, Rancho RS 9000 drag shocks with Comp. Eng. shocks in frt. Truck has full exhaust system and runs 7.5's in the 1/8th. and has been driven to every race that it has attended so far. I am going to trailer it however. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. PJ

Any thoughts on the Autolites 65's that are in it now? What about the NGK 2635's? 1/8th mile racing all year until the Bracket Finals in Indy and then 1/4 mi. for that weekend.

cant remember what i got i toldem i wanted a hotter spark plug and i wanna say its a 66 or 65 had a mis before i stuck these in now no miss for over a year

Thanks guys, do you race or drive on the street only. My 360 was driven to the track and back and to work once in awhile by the previous owner. I will still drive it some on the street, but it won't be at an idle or in city traffic. I am going to trailer it to the track so I don't have to mess with switching tires.

I use NGK R5671A-8 in my small block. I would try either a -7 (which is a little hotter) or a -8 plug.

What's the compression ratio?
I am new to small blocks, but the guy that sold it to me said that it was a stock 360 LA with only a .484 Purple Shaft and gear drive. It ran 7.548 to 7.56, the last time out, for 9 runs. It is running full exhaust w/ headers.

Thank you. I forgot, it is .030 over w/ flat tops. Nice color on the Fish by the way. Did you race at the Bracket Finals last year? I made it down to 16 cars w/ the Dart.

No, I missed 4 races last year after I broke the rear on my car (it happened the second race of the year)...then I missed 1 more race due to vacations plans...so I finished WAY out of the top 10 in points. I think I was in 21 place, or something crappy like that :banghead:

With a combo like that, I would start with a -7 plug. Nice job at the finals, I think almost all of our local (Lucas Oil Raceway) Mopar racers got knocked out early. On a positive note, the finals team from Indy (in Pro), about 6 of the 10 cars were Mopars.:D

I run Champion RV12YC4 plugs, gapped @ .045.
I use MSD6AL box & coil.
I have used them in my aluminum headed 360 & iron headed 340.
Both engines run 11.20's, the 360 with 32 degrees of timing & the 340 with 35 degrees.
No problems at all, I change them at the first of the race season & forget about them.

I run the NGK Vgroove race plugs. They've got a good selection of heat ranges and IMO are easier to read.

Ok. It's probably pretty low compression then. Like Moper and FlyFish I like NGK's and the R5671-7 FlyFish recommended should do you good. Proper plug reading is essential to gettting it dead on of course.

Sorry that you didn't make it. It had to knock off a Barracuda, Chase is his last name, and he is suppose to be really tough. Out of the final 16, 5 of us were from Crossroads Dragway. Our Pro guy won 2nd place with an -.002 red. I plan on being at the Bracket Finals again this year. Hope to see you there.

They are for the LA heads, correct? I will pick up a set. Thank you.
