Looking for help as to what water pump pulley I would need for the correct belt routing on my 360. I picked up a sweet '80 Aspen with a healthy 360 in it. I was driving it this past weekend and the car had real bad belt squeal. I snugged up the alternator belt that was loose and took it for a quick romp and on the way back, it threw the alt. belt.As I looked at it more, it hit me that the belt routing was backwards. The alternator belt was coming up from the crank under the water pump , around the alt., and back to the crank. The P.S. belt was around the crank, up over the water pump, to the P.S. pump and back to the crank. To me, that's backwards, the alt. belt should be running the water pump, not the P.S. belt. What I'm looking to do is find the correct water pump pulley to run a belt around the alt. , water pump, and crank. It has a 4 groove crank pulley on it now, which I'm assuming is from an A/C car. It's also seems to big in diameter to fit

the right pulley on the water pump. It's 7 1/4" in diameter. I have some pullies here and couldn't even get them on because they were hitting the crank pulley. I do have a 3 groove crank pulley that is about 6 5/8" in diameter that I'm going to try and see if I can get things to line up. Any ideas or thoughts?

that i great looking little car

id need to see the engine to see how the belts oughta run, but it sounds like it may be a AC car?
my duster has a 75 motor home 360 in it with AC
the waterpump and the powersteering pump run one belt, and the alternator and AC share 2 belts

there is also always the change of pulleys not lining up

have a look at some of these small blocks, with and without AC

Perhaps the previous owner had an alignment problem with the pulleys?
(& maybe his eyes as well)
Incorrectly spaced Alt. & bent brackets on the P/S.
?????????
