I am going for a few more records and need some opinions.Have been 117 with 4.56 gears a about 6,500 rpm naturally asperated. 11.43.Going for some nitrious records and need a 10.95 at 125.51 to get a A nitrious record. Will start out with a 60 shot.and dont really want too go more than a 90 shot on my 300 plus run motor.Do you think my 4.30 gear choice was correct?Advice and opinions wanted.Guzzi Mark

try it as it is 80 hp will not increase rpm to much

I think a lot has to do with the efficiency of the convertor. What's the slippage on it now?

Thanks Moper,I dont know the efficiency of my converter.Had it built for first motor by continental and told them I wanted a efficient converter and wanted a 3500 stall,26 tires still street driven.New motor with same converter,,,,now race only, more hp stalls at about 4000.with 28 tires.I never had been to a drag strip till 3 years ago so I am a kinda a newbee but I read alot and listen,,,then make my own decisions. My gut feelings still say 4.30s.I cant figure out how to do the efficiency factor..Guzzi Mark

And Vegas I will bee going for B nitrous record first,12.84,,,have been 11.50 all motor,so will only do a 60 shot to try for that record. If everything works out I might go for the A record there with a 90 shot or wait for Sacremento with better air.You all do realize I am doing this with a slant six.6 national records last year,4 or more wanted this year.Guzzi Mark

it already over the power band a little as it is...

Got'ya.ED...So its ether a little taller tire of a gear change.

Mark...You might check with Chris @ Continental converters and see what he thinks. If you catch him on a good day, he is allot of help. Also See if he can hook you up with Trans builder Steve Sharp for any of your trans need if it becomes required. Chris and Steve really are a good blend if you need some help in that area.

Both good old drag racing guy's...

Just food for thought.
