how much shorter is the 400 block as of the 440,thinking about next year going with a 400-511ci motor, and my #7 header is real close to the steering columm on the 440 with indy 440-1 heads, also how much weight differeance as 400 block per 440 block

I had a 440 in my Demon, blew it up Mothers day weekend of this year. I put a 383 in the car for the time being. When (if) I build a another engine for the car, it will be a 400! Fits in the car much better, a little more room, and the headers aren't as close to the master cylinder. That's a plus right there!

yea I love those 400s,years ago I built one,440 crank,440 stock rods,ross pistons,915 heads,ran 10.30s in a cuda

but don't for get the Indy 440 dash 1 has a raised exhaust port. which will put the headers in the same spot wear the 440 block had them. That is why I went with the Indy ez heads for the 440 when I built my car. what kind of header are you using?
